U8 & U10 TEAMS

WE HAVE DECIDED TO PAUSE OUR TEAMS THROUGH THE FALL 24 SEASON. WE WILL LOOK TO RESTART THEM AGAIN IN SPRING 2025. BELOW IS OUR STANDARD TEAM INFORMATION SO THAT YOU CAN LOOK THROUGH THAT AS YOU CONSIDER PLAYING WITH US IN THE SPRING.

The Adam Godwin Soccer Academy is continuing it's successful U8 & U10 teams. This team program is open to boys and girls who were born in 2015, 2016, 2017, or 2018. The U8 team will comprise the '17 and '18 birth years, while the U10 team will comprise the '15 and '16 birth years. This program will be the continuation of the hugely successful program we have run since the Fall of 2021.

Below are some quickfire answers to some FAQ's on the program, and of course you can call Adam Godwin anytime at 770-330-5131 with additional questions.

WHAT IS THE TRAINING METHODOLOGY?

We are excited to train the players using the TOVO coaching methodology. This is a training method developed in Barcelona based upon research of how children learn best. Our role will be to ensure players are building intelligence as they are building technical skills as they are building character. This curriculum will be brand new to the local area and we're excited to use it as we try to develop players in a different way.

WHAT IS THE FORMAT?

The U8 team will be training the players to compete in a 3v3 format. The teams will be of 5 players to maximize playing time.

The U10 teams will be training the players to compete in a 4v4 format. The teams will be of 6 players to maximize playing time.

These formats will create an environment where players maximize their touches on the ball and involvement during games and practices. This format means each individual players have more touches, make more decisions, more passes, more dribbles, more shots, more attacking, more defending.

WHAT WILL THE COST BE?

The cost will be $285 for the entire 8-week season. This cost includes 16 practices, 8 game days, one Academy pullover, and two Academy shirts.

WHEN/WHERE WILL WE PRACTICE?

Practices will be held on Tuesday and Thursday from 6pm - 7pm at Blackwater Creek Athletic Area. Here is the address:

WHO WILL BE THE COACH?

Zack Clark will be the lead coach, in conjunction with several other coaches to create a low player-to-coach ratio. Adam Godwin will act in his role of Executive Director leading administration and communication for the teams.

HOW WILL GAME DAYS WORK?

Our Saturday morning game days will see each team play two games. The games will consist of two 10-minute halves with a short 3-minute halftime. The location will be the same as the practices.

WHEN WILL THE SEASON RUN?

First practices will be the week of March 4. Final practices will be the week of April 8. There will be two 1-hour practices per week and a 1-hour game-day on Saturday mornings:

Week 1 - September 3, 5, 7

Week 2 - September 10, 12, 14

Week 3 - September 17, 19, 21

Week 4 - September 24, 26, 28

Week 5 - October 1, 3, 5

Week 6 - October 8, 10, 12

Week 7 - October 15, 17, 19

Week 8 - October 22, 24, 26

WHAT IS THE ACADEMY LOOKING FOR?

We are very simply looking for a maximum of 44 players born in 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018 who are looking for a soccer development program which places their child at the center of it. Putting the care of the player first, our top priorities during the 7 weeks will be to promote learning and joy. We're really excited about it and would love for you to join us!

We will limit our 15 and 16 birth years to 24 participants.

We will limit our 17 and 18 birth years to 20 participants.

These limits are so that we can ensure we provide an outstanding child-centered environment with an appropriate and coachable number of participants. The goal of our program is player development, not profit.

ARE THERE ANY RESTRICTIONS AS TO WHO CAN JOIN THIS TEAM?

Other than age (must be born in 2015, 2016, 2017, or 2018) we have just one restriction. We truly believe that soccer should be developed locally, and as such the team is only open to families who live within the 5 surrounding counties (City of Lynchburg, Campbell, Bedford, Amherst, and Appomattox).

DO WE GET ANYTHING ELSE FOR JOINING THE TEAM?

Being on the team automatically qualifies you as a member of the Academy which includes 25% discount to all of the other programs the Academy has to offer such as the Summer Camp, the Summer Intensives, our weekly sessions, and more! You will also get first right of refusal for sign-ups to all future AGSA teams meaning you can register your child BEFORE registration is opened to the entire Academy.
